Temple Significance
🛕Rahu Temple, Paithani, Uttarakhand
Situated in Paithani village in Pauri Garhwal, this temple is one of those extremely rare shrines in India where Lord Rahu is worshipped. Located on the banks of the Western Nayar River, this ancient temple is believed to date back to the era of the *Mahabharata*. According to mythological legends, Lord Rahu performed intense penance to Lord Shiva at this very spot; pleased with his devotion, Lord Shiva granted him a place of residence here. This temple is renowned across the country for providing relief from *Rahu Dosha*, *Kaal Sarpa Dosha*, and *Pitra Dosha*. Architecturally, the temple is constructed in the North Indian Katyuri style, with carved stonework and ancient sculptures adorning its walls, reflecting its historical grandeur. Devotees hold an unwavering belief that seeking the *darshan* (sacred sight) of Lord Rahu at Paithani—and performing the joint worship of Lord Shiva and Lord Rahu—grants liberation from sudden crises, mental confusion, and obstacles caused by adversaries in life. This temple holds not only significant astrological importance but also stands as an integral part of the ancient heritage of *Devbhoomi* (the Land of Gods).
