Temple Significance
🛕Subramanya Temple Tirth Kshetra, Kukke Subramanya, Dakshina Kannada, Karnataka 574238
Kukke Subramanya Temple, located in the Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka, is an ancient and highly revered temple dedicated to Lord Subramanya. Here, Lord Subramanya is worshipped in association with the divine serpent deities. The temple is particularly renowned for traditional Naga worship and serpent-related rituals, with Ashlesha Bali being one of its prominent rituals. According to traditional mythology, Lord Subramanya provided protection to Vasuki, the serpent king, and other Nagas from Garuda. This sacred association is one of the reasons Kukke Subramanya is regarded as an important centre for the worship of Lord Subramanya and the serpent deities. Situated amidst the natural beauty of the Western Ghats, Kukke Subramanya has long been regarded as an important Naga pilgrimage centre in South India. Devotees visit the temple to perform traditional rituals such as Ashlesha Bali and seek divine blessings and peace from astrological influences associated with Naga Dosha and Rahu-Ketu.
