Temple Significance
🛕Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Tirtha Kshetra, Nageshwar Temple, near Dwarka, Gujarat 361335
Nageshwar Jyotirlinga, located near Dwarka in Gujarat, is one of the most revered Shiva temples and is traditionally counted among the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva is worshipped here as Nageshwar, and the association of Shiva with the divine serpent gives this sacred site particular religious significance. History & Religious Significance One of the principal legends associated with Nageshwar Jyotirlinga mentions the demon Daruka and a devotee of Lord Shiva named Supriya. According to the traditional account, Lord Shiva manifested here in the form of a Jyotirlinga to protect Supriya and the other devotees. The sacred site is therefore traditionally associated with the protective and benevolent grace of Lord Shiva. Nageshwar is also connected with the Jyotirlinga tradition described in the Shiva Purana. Devotees visit this sacred Tirtha to worship Lord Shiva and pray for protection from fears and difficulties, peace in life and spiritual well-being.
