Varahi Devi Shaktipeeth

Devi Dhura, Champawat, Uttarakhand, 262580

Maa Varahi is an extremely powerful Shaktipeeth, located in the scenic area of Devidhura, Champawat, Uttarakhand, atop a hill surrounded by Oak (Brush) trees. Maa Varahi is the power (Shakti) form of Lord Varaha and is one of the Saptamatrikas (Seven Mothers). Maa Varahi resides here in an awakened form, along with her attendants—Kalua, Baital, Chausath Jogi, and Bawan Veer—who remain in her service. Maa Varahi resides in a huge cave in the form of a rock (Shila), which is also known as ""Shakti Gufa"" (Shakti Cave) in folklore. Every year on the day of Raksha Bandhan, a ""Pashan Yudh"" (stone war) takes place here. In this stone war, thousands of devotees from ""Char Kham"" and ""Saat Tok"" gather and participate. This is globally known as the famous ""Bagwal"" Mela.
